MOORHEAD – A former nursing home worker has been sentenced after pleading guilty to stealing pills from the nursing home here where she worked.

Laura Beth Aanstad, 31, of Fargo was sentenced to a month in jail, plus five years’ probation after pleading guilty to a single count of fifth-degree pos-session of a controlled substance, a felony.

Nine other felony drug possession charges were dropped as part of her plea agreement.

Court documents say the nursing director at the Golden Living Center called police to report someone had broken into the medicine cabinet in the nurses’ station. Documents say that Aanstad tested positive for the three of the missing drugs.

Aanstad will be permit-ted to serve her sentence on work release.
