Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -Sen. John Hoeven is in town touring a brand new, state-of-the-art-technology addition at NDSU.

The $9 million, 35,000 square foot addition is full of new office and lab space for students, graduates and companies conducting research.

The project was made possible through state and federal grants, $4 million coming from the North Dakota Centers of Excellence program, one of Hoeven's initiatives.

The new space will help the university partner with the private and commercial sectors to develop and advance technology, and create jobs.

Sen. John Hoeven, (R-N.D.): ”Look, if we're not doing these things, we can't compete in a global economy and someone else will. So this is really that engine that drives the car.”

The addition is already about 90 percent full, but there's still more room for growth.
