Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The number of drug-related arrests increases by one hundred across the state of North Dakota - in just a year.
A summary from the North Dakota Highway Patrol shows in 2012 troopers made a little more than eight hundred drug arrests.
In 2013, they made 913.
That's around one hundred more drug busts in a year.
Authorities say there has also been an increase in K-9 units in the oil fields - which may be related to the growing number of arrests.
Sgt. Tom Iverson/NDHP Safety & Education Officer: "Predominantly the arrests are possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, typically related with marijuana as the majority but we do make a large amount of arrests for other drugs too, as far as meth or any other hard drugs."
The largest drug bust of the year was around 15 pounds of marijuana seized in the Southeast region of the state.
