Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -Otter Tail County Attorneys are not pursuing a case involving a blind man and his mailbox claiming it's a matter for civil court.
Monday, Bruce Stoddard told WDAY he feels victimized after his neighbor removed the mailbox from his Vergas lake home.
Stoddard says his mailbox was on the neighbor's side of their shared driveway, but had been there for months.
He's trying to get the Otter Tail County Attorney's office to press charges, but attorneys there say it's a property issue and has no place in criminal court.
Michelle Eldien, Assistant Otter Tail County Attorney: “For us it's just hard because obviously we get people who complain about things every day, but there just are some things that you know, we're not going to use our authority or our power to charge somebody with something where we can't ethically say we can prove that at a trial.”
Stoddard told us taking the case to civil court would cost him even more money.
