Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -Two people are facing arson charges tonight for a church fire last fall in Valley City that caused $2.5 million dollars in damage.
One of the suspects is from Fargo. 25-year-old Andrew Miklas faces charges of arson and endangering by fire or explosion. The other suspect, 18-year-old Nicole Lindermann of Valley City, faces an arson conspiracy charge.
This isn't the duos first run-in with the law. They had already been charged with burglarizing Faith Lutheran Church on Oct. 6.
Police say the pair broke into the church on Oct. 21 and set it on fire to cover up evidence of their prior break-in.
Authorities say Miklas tried to start the fire with paint thinner, but it wouldn't burn. He found a can of gas a few blocks away and went back to burn the church. He was wearing a court-ordered ankle bracelet at the time.
Lindermann is being held in the Barnes County Jail on a $1,000 cash only bond. The States Attorney’s Office tells me she is also facing 11 other charges in four counties.
As for Miklas, he is being held in the Cass County Jail. He too is facing multiple charges in other counties. His next court appearance in Barnes County is set for Feb. 4.
