BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Bond has been set at $3,000 cash for a Mandan man accused of driving drunk and shooting a handgun into the air.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that 53-year-old Sheldon Laverne McArthur was charged Friday in district court with felon in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. He also was charged Friday in municipal court with driving under the influence and discharging of a firearm in city limits. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.

Authorities say McArthur was arrested Thursday afternoon in Bismarck. Police say officers retrieved a 9 mm handgun from MacArthur's car.

Court documents say is on federal probation and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
