Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A Fargo woman is on a mission to help stop human trafficking. Her next stop: Tonight at the Fargo Theatre.

Lisa Hanson started Voice for the Captives, a local group fighting human trafficking in North Dakota.

They're sponsoring a screening at the theatre tonight of the film Nefarious: Merchant of Souls beginning at 7. The powerful documentary sheds light on sex trafficking worldwide, with a look into the sex slave industry.

Hanson says the problem of human trafficking is everywhere, even here in Fargo.

Lisa Hanson – Voice for the Captives Founder: "January is human trafficking awareness month and our organization thought it'd be really great to bring this documentary that helps open people's eyes to what sex trafficking looks like globally and nationally."

The screening starts at 7. It does have sensitive content, so people under the age of 16 are not recommended to attend.
