Grand Forks, ND - Grand Forks police have identified two suspects in the expensive cognac theft Dec. 29 from the south end Happy Harry’s Bottle Shop.
Lt. Jim Remer said Thursday he anticipates charges will be filed soon in the theft of a $2,600 bottle of Louis XIII cognac and three other bottles of liquor totaling about $200 in retail value.
But he can’t release the men’s names yet, he said.
Last week, police released a photo from the store’s surveillance video showing two men perusing shelves at the store on 32nd Avenue South from about 1 p.m., Dec. 29, a Sunday.
Owner Hal Gershman said the men “jimmied” open a special glass display case to take the expensive French cognac and apparently took three other bottles off the shelf.
Employees saw the men leave in a teal-colored minivan from the late 1990s.
There’s no word yet if any of the cognac remains.
