Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A New Jersey football fan says he's suing the NFL to stick up for the little guy.

Josh Finkelman spent $4,000 for a pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium, four times the face value.

According to his lawsuit, “The NFL allocates one percent of its tickets to the general public at face value,” short of the five percent required by New Jersey law.

Finkelman argues that the majority of the tickets go to NFL teams and other third parties like online ticket sites, which drives up the prices. But analysts don’t believe Finkelman’s suit will go very far.

Darren Rovell: “There are products every day that there is tremendous demand for, and when they're resold again, there's sold for outrageous prices. Is that fair? No, but that's capitalism.”

The NFL says the “Super Bowl ticket distribution process has been in existence for years’ and “it is in compliance with all applicable laws.”
