Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - You've likely seen, read or heard about it, a man in Texas claims he shot and killed Bigfoot and has the carcass to prove it.
The story was picked up by news outlets worldwide after the man provided alleged pictures of the beast.
We wanted to know if you thought it was the real deal and if the elusive creature could be walking around North Dakota and Minnesota today.
Here it is-- the face of Bigfoot.
It turns out the alleged hunter, Rick Dyer has cried wolf, or Sasquatch, before.
"I have a Bigfoot body."
But what do you think? Is Bigfoot real? And more importantly... could it be traipsing around a backyard near you?
"I've heard of him before. But he'd be awfully cold if he lived up here, though."
"I think we would have found him by now."
After perusing a few websites that collect recordings of Bigfoot sightings... we discovered that although sparse in North Dakota activity was much more frequent in Minnesota.
We decided to consult a man who not only knows the backwoods of our region but most of the country... the host of TV's Wildlife Pursuit Jeremy Elbert to make sense of it all.
Jeremy Elbert/Host of Wildlife Pursuit: "I suppose, if I was a Sasquatch, I would probably want Minnesota more than North Dakota. You look out on the prairies out here and there's nowhere to hide. "
That being said, Elbert doesn't exactly believe Sasquatch is hiding anywhere.
Elbert: "No. We've never run into anything in our adventures."
In fact, the only local photograph of notoriety was taken in October of 2009 and shows a possible squatch passing a trail camera north of Remer, Minnesota.
But couldn't it just be a guy in a suit?
"Oh, you've broke the pin."
Rentall in Moorhead let us take a peek at their gorilla suit for comparison.
"Do you think that could possibly be a suit?"
"Oh, yeah. That could be a suit. That kind of looks like our suit."
And even if this Bigfoot turns out to be as real as this one, it's likely people will continue to believe here and elsewhere for a long time to come.
According to the Big Foot Field Researchers Organization, the latest reported Big Foot sighting in Minnesota took place in the fall of 2011.
