Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - West Fargo's police chief will be turning in his badge after 19 years on the job.
Today Chief Arland Rasmussen announced he will be retiring in June of this year.
He says he is not leaving for health or political reasons or due to problems in the department, but simply because he feels like it's the right time for him and his family.
His wife is also retiring at the end of this school year.
“Everything is going well and I want to get out while everything is going well. There aren’t any expectations that it isn't going to in the future. There's a time for everything.”
Rasmussen credits the cohesiveness of the West Fargo police department, city leaders, and the community.
