Dilworth, MN (WDAY TV) - Prosecutors are filing felony charges against a former Dilworth Fire Chief.

The charges surround many complaints, stating the 49-year-old threatened to burn down his co-workers homes.

Kurt Kennedy fire chief of Dilworth up until October of last year is facing up to five years in prison, and a $10,000 fine.

According to a criminal report, Kennedy threatened a Clay County Sheriff's deputy, Mark Empting who now serves as the Dilworth Fire Chief.

The complaint claims Kennedy said he lost everything because of the department; but that he had a plan of revenge and that he'd win, that included revenge on several members of the fire department and city council.

Members say Kennedy then went on to say quote "I’m going to burn everyone's house on the fire department starting with Mark Empting's and go down the list."

Kennedy says he doesn't remember saying any of those things; he'll appear in court for the first time on January 23rd.
