Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, you might want to hurry, and the peak of flu season is upon us.

January and February see the highest flu numbers, with the "season" usually going from October through May.

The flu is a virus and can be spread quickly by coughing and sneezing.

If you don't protect yourself, it can lead to pneumonia, or worse.

Larry Anenson/Fargo Cass Public Health: “A lot of people don't realize but in the United States over 36,000 individuals die from the flu.”

Flu shots and nasal sprays are available at Fargo Cass Public Health, it takes about two weeks before you are fully protected.
