Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's not every day you come across an ad for a free house, and if it sounds too good to be true, well it is, kind of.

The Victorian house posted on Fargo's Craigslist is indeed free, but the hitch, you have to move it, and that can cost you.

Matt Myers, the owner of 1101 8th St. bought the house in hopes of saving it from being torn down, as well as, preserving the look of the historic neighborhood.

Issues to the home's foundation make it a pricey option to fix up.

And Myers says the cost can be justified, if a new owner moves the home to cheaper land.

"We feel that if the purchase price of the actual structure, the building is zero, than whatever amount of money that someone pays to move it is still far less than what it would cost to purchase a home."

After the house is gone, Myers plans on turning the remaining land into a green space for the neighborhood.

An open house is scheduled for Sunday from 1 to 3 pm.
