Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If you are ringing in the new year with a little bit of alcohol, a word of caution when venturing outside…
Temperatures will be near the 20 below mark Tuesday night when bars start closing down, and if you have enough alcohol in you to impair your judgment, you might feel as though you are warmer than you actually are.
Doctors say that before you know it, you can lose enough body heat to start having hypothermia.
Tony Hamilton- Essentia Emergency Dept.: “It doesn't take very long with the wind chills that we are going to experience tonight for your fingers to stop working right.”
Hamilton says it can take only minutes with Tuesday night’s temps before your body starts to shut down to try and keep its warmth.
