Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Every bride wants her wedding to be memorable.
The perfect dress. Fancy flowers and photos.
In North Dakota, an outdoor wedding is perfect for summer.
But Monday tonight? In Fargo.
There was no Mozart playing as the bride and groom arrived for pre-ceremony pictures next to the dam downtown. Veronica Leaf and Michael J. Bellile had chattering teeth and knees knocking like anyone would out at this 25 below wind chill wedding.
“Love is a miraculous gift, and a wedding is a celebration of that magic.”
The couple from St. Michael wanted their wedding by the river.
“Yep, we will be wearing our jackets.”
Veronica spent summers with her father fishing here by the dike
Veronica Leaf/Bride: “And Michael is a trapper. And always by the water.”
Both decided to tough it out.
Michael J. Bellile/Groom: “Better time of the year. You know, Soon to be the New Year, start a new life together. A gorgeous spectacular woman.”
And so along with a few close friends and family, who bundled up for the vows, the wedding went forward.
“They think we are crazy.”
In sickness and in health.
“As a sign of my love and faithfulness.”
In subzero cold and chapped lips, the two said, "I do".
Pastor Carrie Clemens keeping it short and sweet. In this weather, so few options.
In 8-minutes, this much in love couple got it done.
Dike east, usually a venue for fishing and biking, today hosted an icy cold ceremony for two warm hearts.
A wedding reception is set for this summer. A BBQ.
Monday night, a big dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Inside.
