Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - I'm here at Discovery Middle School, where the Red Cross has setup a shelter for the residence of Casselton. Officials are urging everyone in Casselton to leave. Get out; go to a family member’s house. Leave. Get somewhere safe.

Sheriff Paul Laney/Cass County: "Our job right now is to protect the citizens of Casselton and that’s what we intend to do."

The 2,400 citizens are being asked to evacuate because the air might be to harmful.

Dr. John Baird/Fargo Cass Public Health: "Crude Oil, as it burns, has a lot of particulate matter in it, a lot of smoke and fumes a lot of bad things that are difficult for people especially with respiratory illnesses."

Officials will reassess the request tomorrow, but stress that the public evacuates safely tonight"

Laney: "We don’t have to rush, we don’t want people running and panicking to their cars and running into each other as they are trying to leave town."

The Red Cross here are ready and waiting, though no one has yet arrived, red cross says they can put up a cot in seconds. If you have nowhere else to go, come here and be safe.
