Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Saturday was also a difficult day for motorists as drivers faced low visibility and slick roads.

Many well-traveled roadways were closed until Sunday morning.

But even with closures law enforcement had its hands full.

Sgt. Kevin Kallinen/Grand Forks Police: "Around 10, 11 o'clock we started getting a fair amount of accidents. And that went all the way through the end of our shift. And we had approximately 20 accidents yesterday."

Those twenty accidents were just in the city of Grand Forks with many more occurring throughout the region.

North Dakota Highway Patrol says in just the 20 miles between Thompson and Grand Forks, they responded to more than 10 vehicles in the ditch.

By 11 o'clock Saturday night Minnesota State Patrol said it had responded to a dozen crashes and fifty slide offs just in the northwest and central part of the state.
