Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Extreme wind gusts and blowing snow, making for slow travels.
Harold Friesen/Traveler: “There are drivers going different speeds but, there are several cars in the ditches in both directions.”
Karen Boyko/Traveler: “Slowed down, we had our hazards on a little bit.”
Conditions the result of an arctic cold front.
Jeff Makowski/NWS Meteorologist: “Behind this front, we have both some very strong northerly winds gusting at times over 40 mph.”
Winds making driving, almost impossible.
Boyko: “Visibility basically was a problem.”
Friesen: “Well the visibility is almost down to zero in some places.”
Makowski: “Traveling could be difficult into this evening. If you don't have to travel. It's best not to.”
Drivers will see the wind and snow die down Saturday night as temperatures drop drastically.
Makowski: “As we head into tonight, temperatures in some areas could be down near 20 below zero with wind chills below minus 35, minus 40 in some areas.”
