Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The NDSU football team is trying to accomplish something done once at the FCS level, win three straight titles.

Appalachian State did it from 2005-2007, but the Bison have a chance to go unbeaten, something the Mountaineers didn't do in their streak.

While some may have opposing views to NDSU's dominance over the last several years, the Conference Commissioner say's it's good, and the competition has risen because of it.

Patty Viverito/Missouri Valley Conference Commissioner: “I think it gives people something to aspire to, I don't think it was bad when App State was in that position, it makes it more fun for the others to chase that dream, I think and if North Dakota State had dominated the league to the point where they were killing teams week in and week out and it wasn't a contest I might feel differently. But they didn't go undefeated the last two seasons and there are teams in our league that don't think they are that far out of reach so I think it makes for great competition.”
