Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If you're still faced with the prospects of a lonely meal, or no meal at all, two local churches are coming to your rescue and spreading some holiday cheer.

“Anybody that will be alone, has no place else to go, has no family.”

Tuesday, with the help of two local churches, those who would have otherwise been alone are getting served a holiday meal with a side of Christmas spirit.

Zana McKelvey/Co-Chair, Olivet Christmas Dinner: "Anybody that wants to have turkey dinner with us is welcome"

Olivet Lutheran and Nativity Catholic are both opening their doors and hearts.

Putting together an annual meal that is expected to feed more than 1,200 between the two locations.

Jeff Sandgren/Sr. Pastor, Olivet Lutheran: "The miracle of Christmas is one that's meant to be shared with everybody, and tonight were able to do that."

And what a Christmas miracle it is. It takes hundreds of volunteers donating not only their time but all of the supplies except for the turkey to put all of this together, and bring to the table a warm Christmas meal.

McKelvey: "We start at 9 o’clock this morning their making stuffing. At 10 o’clock their decorating, at noon they come in and prep the cranberries, the pickles and the treat trays and the buns."

And the shifts keep coming and coming, all the way past dinner time.

McKelvey: "We usually get done about in time for the 11 o’clock service tonight."

With Bingo sessions, handed out gift cards and even a visit from Santa, there is far more being served than just turkey.

McKelvey: "Come make new friends, meet somebody that you need to know, make a difference in somebody else's life, I guess that’s what we do, we try to make a difference in someone else's life."
