Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - That trailer home in North Moorhead is destroyed, leaving two adults and their two small children homeless.

Neighbors say besides the two small boys, the family is expecting a newborn very soon, making a season that's supposed to be filled with joy a challenge.

Jackie Wolfe- Neighbor: "It's really sad."

It was the rising smoke which stopped cars and drew people out of their homes, like Mark…

Mark Lisburg- Neighbor: "I looked over here and smoke was just billowing out of the house."

Others parked alongside Mobile Manner to take pictures, like Lisa Esparza who sent us this picture: Smoke engulfing their neighborhood.

Jackie Wolfe: "We just wanted to make sure everyone was okay."

But behind that smoke is someone's home… Was someone's home.

All that's left now is burned wood, broken glass and a family forced into the cold.

Mark Lisburg: “When they start burning, they burn."

It all happened in a matter of minutes, but neighbor Mark Lisburg says it was the days leading up to the disaster which sparked the blaze.

Mark Lisburg:"Pipes were frozen for a few days, so they put the knipco under the trailer and they got a little bit too close to the insulation and the house caught on fire."

For hours, firefighters stood out in subzero temps blasting away the flames, smoke and this season's spark.

Jackie Wolfe: "It's really going to be hard on them now."

Monday night, the family is staying with relatives.
