BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's Game and Fish Department says there was only one new infestation of an aquatic nuisance species this year.

Curly leaf pondweed was found in Grass Lake in Richland County.

State ANS Coordinator Fred Ryckman says that for the second straight year, no zebra mussels were detected in the Otter Tail and Red rivers at Wahpeton. Immature zebra mussels were found there in both 2010 and 2011.

Ryckman says a few adult silver carp were observed in the James River below Jamestown Dam again this year, after the nuisance fish moved upstream into North Dakota during high flows in 2011.
