FARGO – A man suspected of shoplifting at a Hornbacher’s grocery store pulled a knife on a security officer Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel said the security officer detained the man and took him to the store’s loss prevention office where the man displayed a knife.

At that point, the security officer let the man leave the store at 1532 32nd Ave. S. As the man fled on foot, the security officer kept him in his sight for about two blocks, Vettel said.

With help from a K-9, police officers searched unsuccessfully for the man. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video in an attempt to identify him, Vettel said.
