Fergus Falls, MN (WDAY TV) - For 12 years, a Fergus Falls family has been putting on a light spectacle that rivals National Lampoon's Clark Griswold
It took Jim and Ginny Saul the month of October.
The time consuming thing is making each of the 1100 light switches sync with every second of music.
Jim told me on average he spends 10 to 12 hours for each minute of music.
Jim Saul/Homeowner: "When the Clark Griswold song hits the neighbors across the way, they can read the newspaper in their front living room it's just so bright."
About 25,000 twinkling lights on display.
Saul: "A little over a mile and a half of extension cords"
A love affair with Christmas that began years ago for the Saul’s.
Saul: "When we got married, we got one plastic Santa Claus that first year"
a snowball effect took place.
Sual: "When you see a little kid just pressed up against the glass, smiling and looking you see the same expression on the parents face as well, you're just kind of paying it forward, making Christmas memories for them."
"Her whole eyes light up and she is just asking for Santa, she loves it."
Sual: "This is our gift to the community, our gift to other people."
"We've been here three times already this year and we'll come back next Wednesday again."
It's probably something many of you at home are asking,
Just how much is the Sauls electric bill?
Jim told me it's less than you'd expect, just a $50 increase for the season.
You can bring a monetary donation or a canned good to donate to the Fergus Falls Food Shelf.
