Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - One of most historic homes in Moorhead has a new owner, and he got it for a bargain.

Tuesday, Pifer's auctioned off the former Rourke Art Gallery at 523 4th Street South.

The nearly 3,000 square foot house was built in 1882 and still has much of the original woodwork.

Blake Carlson of Fargo bid the highest at $95,000.

Realtor Kevin Pifer says the lot is worth at least $150,000.

Blake Carlson/Highest Bidder: "It's a beautiful house here, and a great opportunity. I'm not exactly sure what's going to happen to it, I have a couple ideas, but nothing is set in stone. It does need some work, but I think it's got a lot of potential."

James O'Rourke opened the art gallery in 1961.

Audiences at that location have dwindled over time, while growing at the Rourke Art Museum on Main Avenue.
