Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - F-M Churches who opened their doors five weeks early this year needs help with volunteers and donations.

Full-time shelters can take about 300 people each night, yet the number of homeless people in our community is closer to 800.

Nearly 20 churches will rotate housing about 30 people each night.

It takes 84 volunteers to staff one of the church sites each week, and more are needed.

Pastor Sue Koesterman- Facilitator, F-M Sheltering Churches Project: “The goal here is not to continue to put mattresses down in church basements. The long-term goal is to provide affordable housing for everyone in our community, so it’s not necessary.”
