Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - We know what the approved flood control project on 2nd Street will look like.

The City of Fargo released an animated flyover of the project approved by the City Commission Monday night.

The flood wall will be built on the east side of 2nd Street; the road will be slightly shifted to the west.

The orange area is where city engineers believe future development projects could be built.

When the project is finished, 3rd Avenue with stop at 3rd street instead of 2nd.

Nathan Boerboom/Division Engineer, City of Fargo: "2nd street levy that we unfortunately have to install quite frequently will no longer be needed once the floodwall is completed so 2nd street will be able to remain open."

The project is expected to cost 53-million dollars, paid for through state and local funds.
