Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A drunk driver went airborne Thursday morning in Fargo after speeding and going off the road.

Officers were called around 2:30 a.m. after someone noticed a car sitting in a field for nearly an hour.

When police showed up near the intersection of 35th Street and 7th Avenue, they found 21-year-old Brice Gaughan inside.

The Casselton man was too intoxicated to unlock the doors, so police smashed the windows to get him out.

Lt. Joel Vettel/Fargo Police Dept.: "They were concerned obviously that with the extreme temperatures that him being out there for an hour could have been life threatening in reference to the exposure issue"

Gaughan was arrested and charged with a DUI.
