Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Having a warm bowl of soup can help get you through the winter, but today, it also helped a good cause.

The 11th Annual Bowls for Babies event brought out nearly 1,000 people on Wednesday, with over 1,200 handcrafted bowls on display.

Each bowl was hand painted by local artists, organizations and businesses.

11 local restaurants donated food for the North Dakota March of Dimes event.

For 20 bucks, attendees received lunch and a decorated bowl of choice.

Amber Ferrie/Sr. Manager, Eide Bailly: "It’s really a feel good event. You’re helping babies your filling up with warm soup on a freezing cold day so yea the community response and support has been great."

100% percent of the proceeds help fight premature birth and infant deaths. Nearly 20 babies are born premature every week in North Dakota
