Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - With the temperatures as cold as they've been, drivers are flocking to remote start shops.

Remote car start sales are causing long waiting periods at install shops around town.

Tintmasters says it has seen a 50% increase in sales from a month ago, though they usually see an uptick around Christmas.

Most shops around town say a three to four week waiting period should be expected.

Mike Haggen/VP of Sales, Auto Systems: "It’s always busy this time of year for Christmas gifts and the weather so right now I think most of our dealers and ourselves are booked out till about the first of the year."

Haagen says Auto Systems is on track for better sales than last year because of higher vehicle sales and winter kicking in earlier.
