As temperatures dip below zero, we're forced to pay more to keep our homes warm.
350 households in Richland County are already receiving home energy assistance through the state-wide Low Income Home Emergency Assistance Program.
It runs each year from October first through the end of May, and provides anywhere from 5% to 95% assistance for eligible families.
Kristi Green/Richland Co. Social Services: “Definitely come and apply. We do look at income and asset guidelines but it’s simple, a simply process. Definitely worth your time and our time to see if we can give you some help.”
In Richland County, the program usually provides help for about 500 families each year.
