Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - A new Christmas charity project aims to help FM families living in hotels.
A local Moorhead woman started the Joy Project after she saw a school bus pick up students from the Moorhead Grand Inn.
Marisa Bengtson-Loerzel was reminded of briefly living in hotels during her childhood recalling additional hardships around the holidays.
Bengtson-Loerzel is using social media to ask the FM community to donate to families living at both Grand Inn locations.
Proceeds raised will help provide a Christmas dinner and gifts to the approximately 15 families staying in the hotels.
Marisa Bengston-Loerzel/Founder, The Joy Project: “I met so many wonderful people. not all of them have families though some of them are here by themselves. some of them are couples and as I met them and talked to them and heard their stories I realized I wanted to do something more.”
