Northwood, ND (WDAY TV) - A Northwood family is dealing with a stinky, smelly mess forced out of their home.

Northwood Oil Company accidentally pumped almost 200-gallons of fuel oil, into their finished basement.

The fuel was supposed to go to 308 Adams Street, but instead, went to the Veer home, at 307 Adams Street.

And their fuel tank isn't hooked up anymore.

The fuel oil damaged the house's infrastructure, furniture, toys, and hockey equipment for Veer's two sons.

The family has since moved out of the house and are now staying at their grandparents home.

With the threat of oil seeping into the foundation and soil -- Veer doesn't plan on moving back into the house once it's clean.

Ryndee Veer/Northwood, ND: “it's not even the house or the contents in it at this point, it's just having somewhere safe for my family and I don't think that's the place that we need to be.”

Northwood Oil has been compensating the family with an account to get food, and they're helping clean up.
