UND Volleyball head coach resigns

Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Ashley Hardee has resigned as head coach of the UND volleyball team, three days after he was allegedly involved in a hit and run accident.

Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Ashley Hardee has resigned as head coach of the UND volleyball team, three days after he was allegedly involved in a hit and run accident.

The school made the announcement earlier today. Hardee was placed on administrative leave Monday after an accident at the Big Sky tournament in Portland over the weekend, where Hardee allegedly hit an unoccupied car. In a statement, Hardee says he apologizes to the program, university and the community for a serious lapse in judgment.

“We expect a high standard of personal behavior by our coaches this was situation at end of it was unacceptable why we've taken the action we've taken, personal level very difficult Ashley has done remarkable job thru transition.”

Hardee signed a contract extension last summer to take him thru 2016. UND now has to fill 2 opening for football and volleyball.
