Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - You will be seeing a lot of city plows working the roads in the next 24 to 48 hours.
And with Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo all growing, plow operators have more work to do.
Our city is growing, and with that, more roads and more pavement for the city to try and keep clear of snow.
Fargo Public Works has ordered more equipment with each of their new trucks over the last few years to keep up, adding wings to plow trucks and loaders.
Ben Dow/Fargo Public Works: "In the last about 5 years we've added roughly around 600 land miles to the city so we've gone right around from 1200 to just under 1900 land miles.”
Dow says two; 28 member 12 hour shifts will try to keep vital roads clear around the clock.
Here in West Fargo, residential complexes like ShadowWood behind me, have doubled the amount of miles that need to be plowed, from 140 in 2000 all the way up to 345 today.
They too will be working throughout the night to make the morning commute as safe as possible.
The city of Moorhead has almost 200-miles of streets to clear.
