Snow blower repair backed up until Christmas

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If you checked out the forecast and checked your snow blower and found it not working - you are out of luck.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If you checked out the forecast and checked your snow blower and found it not working - you are out of luck.

Snow blower repair shops are the hottest spots in town and if yours is broken, you may be "shoveling" snow until Christmas.

At Scheel's Home and Hardware and these are just some of the snow blowers waiting to be serviced.

Mechanics tell me they're working thirteen hours days.

Todd Gunderson/Scheels Home & Hardware: "It's real busy right now we've got a lot of people calling we're having a real influx now once the snow is here. That's usually once they go outside and find that it doesn't work anymore."

Tyson Christensen/Mechanic: "They keep coming in and it's hard to keep up."

In the past 24 hours alone,

Gunderson: "Anywhere from 50 to 60."

That’s dozens of people who will be forced to wrench their backs.

Instead of clearing snow these 125 come snow blowers are covered in snow and they'll probably be this way for the next 3 weeks until they're serviced."

Gunderson: "we could have a lot of snow in between."

Mechanics say for many of you...a little TLC would have gone a long way...

Gunderson: "the guys that are thinking ahead of time brought them in in August, September, October. I think pretty much everybody is going to be a few weeks behind.”

It's not just repair shops that are busy.

At Home Depot Tuesday - and the store’s manager told me they've been selling shovels and new snow blowers like hot cakes.

In fact, he had to order an emergency shipment of snow blowers.
