Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - An ad on Backpage.com, has put a man in jail in Fargo.

35-year-old Deyonn Bowler of Oklahoma is charged with peddling heroine after contacting a criminal informant on the popular website.

Authorities say Bowler asked the informant if he knew of people looking for heroin - saying he'd been in the F-M area seven days and had been frequenting North Dakota for the past year.

A drug deal was arranged at the Fargo Inn and Suites on 38th Street.

Court Documents say Bowler had a baseball size chunk of heroin in the room - and gave the informant less than a half-gram.

Lt. Joel Vettel/Fargo Police Department: “Although the issue of tying drug sales to such sites as backpage.com is certainly uncommon, more so we see the issue of prostitution.”

Vettel says he believes there is a direct link between prostitution, drugs and violent crimes.

Bowler's bail is set at $100,000, his next court appearance is December 27th.
