Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV) - A year from now, people in our area might be a lot more excited about a forecast for a foot of snow.
Fundraising is near complete and construction for Detroit Mountain is kicking into high gear and the ski slopes are starting to take shape.
If you don't like the snow, you're in for a real treat because piles like this are only going to grow bigger.
They're nothing compared to the big fun going up in Detroit Lakes.
While we're preparing for winter's worst, Detroit Mountain is making its way out of ten years of hibernation.
Jeff Staley/Detroit Mountain Board President: "Even if you have a hard time managing the cold, you'll still enjoy being here."
Bringing a cozy Colorado-inspired lodge, a dozen or so ski slopes, and a terrain park, all to our very own backyards.
And right on schedule for next holiday season.
Staley: "By this time next year, we'll be open. We'll have hundreds of skiers and snowboarders here and it will just be great."
So next time you start to worry about getting rid of all this white,
Staley: "You never like to shovel the snow but once you get all the work done, you really get an opportunity to play in it too."
Think of all the good it's doing, at an up and coming winter playground, taking shape on the sides of Detroit Mountain.
Detroit Mountain's board has already raised about six million dollars for the project, but are still a few hundred-thousand dollars short.
