Minneapolis, MN (WDAY TV) - Viking fans witnessed something they thought would never happen today as the groundbreaking of the new stadium was held.

As we told you earlier in the show, the two and a half year process to build a new stadium kicked off it's a project that's going to cost nearly a billion dollars and for some fans they can't wait for the new building, while others are sad to see the dome go.

“There’s bulldozers out here right now, it’s happening.”

“Hanging out there in the parking lot with my friends. Inside all of it, with the helmet on, I love it.”

The actual tearing down of the Dome starts shortly after the Vikings season ends, the Purple will play at TCF Bank Stadium the next 2 seasons.
