Casselton, ND (WDAY TV) - A stretch of two-lane highway north of Casselton caused a number of problems for not only motorists Monday, but first responders.
This Casselton Ambulance was heading northbound on County 18 when it lost control and went into the ditch.
The ambulance was on its way to help a man in a van who was hit by an oncoming semi.
Authorities say the driver of the semi was driving the speed limit, lost control and side-swiped the van.
Police say traffic was backed up for nearly a mile.
Jamey Jahner- North Dakota State Patrol: “People just need to realize they need to slow down. They need to increase those following distances; just drive for the conditions. A lot of times, people are just driving too fast and if you're gonna be out here driving in these conditions, have your headlights on and be visible for the other traffic. “
The driver of the van was taken by ambulance to Essentia in Fargo with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured.
