Minneapolis, MN (WDAY TV) - The Mahnomen football team appearing in their state record 13th title game today, looking to make it back to back crowns.

The Indians faced Dawson-Boyd, who was the last team to beat them during their current 27 game win streak.

The Blackjacks did that in the 2011 Championship game.

Mahnomen scored on its first three possessions, all in the first quarter, Bob Bjorge's 36 yard touchdown run made it 18-0 Mahnomen after one.

They went to the bag of tricks in quarter two, the halfback pass, Tommy Pavek to Kody LeFay, back to Pavek, 44 yards, 25-7 Indians.

Later, Austin Reitan, who missed last year's title game with an ACL injury, he finds the end zone from 40 yards out, 31-7 Mahnomen at the half.

Make it back to back titles for the Indians and this one was a no-doubter!

46-13 the final, capping a perfect 14-0 season, the Mahnomen Indians have book ended history.

In the first prep bowl in 1982, they came away winners.

They also walked away state champs in the final prep bowl in the Metrodome.

John Clark Jr./Won 2 Consecutive State Championships: “We finally figured out how to win down here so I wish it were open a few more years. I got some friends and I know a lot of guys on that ’82 team that we got bragging rights now. We know how to finish.”

It's almost like this dome is home for us. We started it, ended it, I guess we'll have to start a tradition in the new stadium.

Nathan Hanson/Mahnomen Sr. TE/DB: “The community supports us so much and we appreciate it so much.”

For the Schoenborn family, it's special. Jordan, a sophomore lineman stepped on the field today, 31 years after his dad played at the dome.

Don Schoenborn/Played on 1982 Mahnomen Runner-Up Team: “It was TV, it was a huge new stadium, walked in for the first time and said this is pretty cool.”

Jordan Schoenborn/Mahnomen So. OL/DL: “It's something my dad and I can always share.”

Don: “Seeing my son in his sophomore year and getting on the field and being there in the final game after I was there in the first game it’s an incredible feeling.”

Next year Mahnomen will try to carry its momentum from the Metrodome over to TCF Bank Stadium where the Indians will try and win a third straight title.
