Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - F-M area workers and supporters are taking part in "Change Walmart," a nationwide protest for better jobs and pay.

A group of protestors picketed outside of the 13th Avenue store in Fargo.

Calling on the company to provide full-time work, and pay employees $25,000 a year.

Fargo's group is a small portion of the thousands of Black Friday protestors who raised their voices across the country.

The protests began after employees at one Walmart store were encouraged to donate to co-workers unable to provide a Thanksgiving meal for their families.

Leewanna Thomas- Protest Organizer: “It's a national day in which people celebrate low prices and good deals at Walmart and we just also want everyone to know that while we're getting cheap electronics, workers are being told by the corporation to go on food stamps.”

Protestors point to Walmart's high profits, estimated at $17 billion a year.
