West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - With full stomachs and money to burn, our attention shifts from Thanksgiving to Black Friday.
People have skipped out on the last bites of Thanksgiving dinner and are packed inside here at West Acres, waiting for the mall's earliest opening ever.
Kaela Metzger/Valley City: “I like it, get shopping done and out of the way.”
Shainee Price/Moorhead: “Just getting good deals I think, cause it's nice when you can get something like half off.”
Just around the corner Luke Heck and his fiancée counted down the minutes in the cold.
Luke Heck/Minneapolis: “Frankly I’m not really gung-ho about it. I could care less says the guy who is first in line.”
With a short list for their early bird shopping,
Heck: “Fiancée and I need to get some wedding rings.”
But leading a long line that wrapped around the building.
Everyone huddled together until the mad rush began.
Only to find more lines greeting them after the stampede through the doors.
Chelsea Hermanson/West Fargo: “Because of the leggings and sweatshirts that are on sale.”
Heck: “A bunch of 15 year old girls just kind of crushed us walking and sprinting through.”
And once shoppers pushed past competition to get their hands on the shopping steals,
Heck: “Well we got our wedding rings and got our free tablet out of it.”
Only then did the waits make it worth it.
Leyla Bakir/West Fargo: “Clothes from Forever 21. It's 50% off so.”
Heck: “We're getting married in August.”
West Acres had about forty-five stores that opened at 8 p.m. Thursday, including all four department stores.
