Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - For many, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on being thankful.

And here in the F-M area, humble acts of community service meant everyone was invited to take a seat at a Thanksgiving table.

Gathering around a home cooked meal.

That’s the first thought most of us have when thinking of Thanksgiving.

But if it wasn't for the graciousness of St. Joe's Catholic, Trinity Lutheran and lots of volunteers, a meal might not have been an option for those who could not be with family or friends.

Jolinda Michels/Trinity Thanksgiving Volunteer: "They don’t have another place to go so we can provide them with a good meal and some friendly fellowship and everybody's welcome."

With over 700 pounds of turkey on hand the food is plentiful, but for the folks that come to Trinity Church, it’s about more than just the meal.

Michels: "I feel loved when I come here."

Nancy Mocs/Trinity Dinner Patron: "You’re amongst friends even if you've never seen them before you get acquainted, you visit, and it’s all about getting to meet your next door neighbor."

More than 1,000 people ate their fill thanks to both delivery and in-house meals.

And with the success of this nineteenth community dinner, the churches hope they can continue showing the spirit of giving thanks for years to come.
