Underwood, MN (WDAY TV) - The wait is nearly over for the Underwood football team as they get set to make their debut in the 9-man championship game on Friday.

The Rockets have had a terrific postseason run, knocking off the first, second and fourth ranked teams in 9-man.

They're facing Grand Meadow, who is back in the championship game for the second straight year but looking for a different result.

Aaron Thompson/Underwood Sr. WR/DB: “For sure we have been the underdog throughout this entire state tournament, I mean looking online and reading articles no one has picked us to win any of these games but that is just more motivation and more fuel to the fire for us.”

Adam Creek/Underwood Sr. QB/DB: “I feel like they are pretty hungry, they lost the state game last year so they are looking to get that title as much as we are but we are happy we are here and we are not just gonna lay down for them either.”

The Rockets play at 10 am Friday, we'll be there for full coverage and on Saturday when Mahnomen takes on Dawson-Boyd.
