Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Excitement is building, as the sights and sounds of the holiday season will fill downtown Fargo and Moorhead in a little more than an hour.
The 2013 Xcel Energy Holiday Lights Parade will kick off at 6:30.
The parade gets bigger and better every year; in fact it's in its twelfth year.
I'm just a block away from where the 95 floats will line up, and for you kids at home, you won't want to miss Santa.
I've been told he'll be sneaking away from the North Pole for a few hours to be at the parade!
If you're coming out, here’s a look at the parade route.
It will start at the corner of 8th street and Center Avenue in Moorhead.
Before making its way over to NP Avenue and heading north on Broadway to sixth avenue.
Consider yourself warned - parking could be a hassle before and after the parade.
Broadway is off limits as well as Center Avenue between 8th and 11th Street, I'm told they will tow vehicles!
From decorated first fire trucks - to performances by the NDSU dance team, the parade offers something for everyone, including plenty of candy for the kids.
Jed Pahan/VP, Downtown Community Partnership: “The nostalgic feeling about being downtown, celebrating the kick off to the holidays with the community around and seeing probably the most spectacular parade floats that you could ever imagine.”
The best part of this is that if you don't feel like braving the chilly temperatures you can still enjoy the parade -- we've got you covered.
The parade will be broadcast LIVE beginning at 6:30 on WDAY 6-3, WDAZ 8-3, it will also be streamed online at WDAY.com and Inforum.com.
