The driver of a semi-tractor trailer has been hospitalized following an accident on Highway 200 near Hurdsfield, ND.
The Highway Patrol says the driver, 67-year-old David Pinske of Gary, MN, failed to negotiate a curve about two miles west of Hurdsfield. Pinske began to enter the north ditch and over-corrected by turning to the left. The tractor and trailer then rolled a half turn, coming to rest facing south with part of the tractor on the roadway obstructing some of the westbound traffic. The trailer came to rest in the north ditch.
His rig rolled about 5:15 p.m. Monday.
Pinske was taken to a Harvey, ND, hospital and later flown to a Minot hospital where he is in stable condition.
It leaked a majority of its haul of liquid fertilizer, but was contained by responding firefighters. The fertilizer is not considered to be hazardous, but a patrol sergeant did not immediately have details on the type of fertilizer or how much spilled.
The crash is still under investigation.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol had previously said Pinske was from Gary, Indiana, but later said he is from Minnesota
