Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - An early morning stabbing leaves two people dead and one man behind bars.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - An early morning stabbing leaves two people dead and one man behind bars.

The assault began around 2 a.m. Officials say multiple 911 calls alerted police to 1105 7th Avenue North, where officers discovered two victims.

Police are telling us a struggle broke out inside this brown apartment building. But the assault ended out here, where two people from the F-M area were stabbed and killed.

Chief Keith Ternes, Fargo Police: "Early this morning, in fact right around 2:07 a.m. Fargo Police officers were summoned to 1105 7th Avenue North."

An avenue with high traffic and a street crossing which many young college kids call home. But many neighbors we talked with off camera agree: Although quiet, they call this area a sketchy part of town.

Which proved true this morning when more than one call rang into dispatch, forcing officers out into an artic crime scene where they found two dead outside.

Chief Ternes: "One adult male and one adult female who were outside of the residents deceased, from what appeared to be injuries consistent with being stabbed."

Police aren't tell us who they are, but the two people stabbed to death include a 23-year-old woman from Fargo and a 30-year-old Moorhead man.

Chief Ternes: "We’re very confident both victims were acquainted with one another."

An upstairs neighbor, who didn't want to be on camera, admits to WDAY the couple killed argues a lot.

At this time, Fargo Police have 35-year-old David Stevens locked up, who's waiting to be formally charged for the murders.

Chief Ternes: "We’ve developed enough probable cause to arrest Mr. Stevens and hold him pending formal charges associated with the two homicides."

Police also released they are very confident the three involved in this assault all knew each other very well.

Chief Ternes: "This is not a case of where somebody forced their way, a stranger forced their way into this home. These are people who, these are people who knew one another."

You heard it for yourself; this isn't a case where the public is in danger. But so far, police have not pinpointed a motive.
