Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Fargo police are trying another tactic to get people to drive safely.

They set up at 17th St S, where they say a lot of accidents are occurring.

They're pulling over drivers who appear distracted or are not following posted law.

Sergeant Ryan Dorrheim, who's calling it "occupant protection”, says it's a gentle reminder that winter is coming, and people need to drive safely.

Ryan Dorrheim/Sargent, Fargo PD: “Make safe driving choices, put the cell phones down it really can wait, let’s keep the eyes forward obey the posted speed limits pretty soon these slick weather conditions are going to be upon us and we want everyone in the city to be prepared for it.”

Dorrheim says seatbelt enforcement was a strong focus with November being seat belt awareness month.
